People spend money on cameras and neglect the thing that actually breaks interviews.
In priority order
1. Sound. Bad audio makes people stop listening within minutes. A wired headset is the cheapest large improvement available.
2. Light. Face a window or lamp. Never sit with a bright window behind you.
3. Framing. Eyes about a third from the top. Camera at eye level, on a stack of books if needed.
4. Background. Tidy and plain. Blur if the room is busy. Novelty backgrounds read as unserious.
Have a fallback
Know your dial-in number and have mobile data ready. Handling a dropped connection calmly is itself a good signal for a remote role.

No. Sound and lighting matter far more than camera resolution.
Should I use a virtual background?
A plain blur is safest. Images distract and often glitch around your head.
