Present, past, future
- Present: "I am a support lead at a fourteen-person software company, running a team of three."
- Past: two or three moves and why you made them, thirty seconds total.
- Future: why this role, specifically, is the next step.
The mistake
Starting with childhood or education and moving forward. By the time you reach relevant experience, attention is gone. Start with now.
Plant a hook
Mention one specific thing you want to be asked about. Interviewers usually take it, which lets you steer the next five minutes onto your strongest ground.
