The main disadvantage of remote work at raise time is invisibility. The fix is a record.
Keep a running log
One line a month: what you shipped, what it changed, what you took on that was not in the job description. At review time you have the case already written.
Time it to the budget
Raises come from budget cycles. Asking a month after they close means waiting a year. Ask which quarter the planning happens and raise it before.
Frame it as scope, not tenure
"I have been here two years" is not an argument. "I now own the release process and on-call rota, neither of which was in the original role" is.
Common questions
When is the best time to ask for a raise?
In the quarter before budgets are set, and after a visible delivery.
How do I prove my value remotely?
Keep a monthly log of scope changes and outcomes with numbers. Present it as a one-page summary.
